Who hasn’t gazed up at the stars and wondered about the universe beyond our own planet? Looking at the night sky has the added attraction of staying up late–a sure-fire way to sneak in a little learning with children.
For outer space week of the Smart Summer Challenge*, we saw plenty of out of this world ideas!
Here are some of the outer space crafts and activities my family did:
Outer Space Songs for Preschool
Earth and Moon Orbits Reenactment
Rocket Ship Craft and Books About Astronauts
Some other posts from our participants and hostesses that caught my eye:
Me as a Constellation from Relentlessly Fun, Deceptively Educational
Felt Build a Rocket Game at Pink and Green Mama
Cookies and Phases of the Moon at Teach Mama
Solar System Necklace from Paint Cut Paste
Rocket Shape Collage from Creativity My Passion
Planet Walk to see the relative distance between the planets from Life in the Unknown
Living Montessori Now has a great round-up of Montessori-Inspired Star and Constellation Units. I especially like the constellation pin punching activity from Counting Coconuts.
* Recently I co-hosted the “Smart Summer Challenge” with MaryLea of Pink and Green Mama and Amy of TeachMama.
I’m moving my weekly themed “round-ups” of submissions to new posts to make them easier to find.
Great round-up of outer space activities, Candace! Thanks so much for including my post! I really love that constellation pin punching activity from Counting Coconuts, too. It’s always amazing how much kids love to use pin punching for almost anything, but I think constellations are one of the best uses for it! 🙂
