My daughter made these cute little bunny ears at her Pre-K story and craft time so we decided to make them with our playgroup, too.
Materials:
- poster board / oak tag
- pink (or light blue or light purple) construction paper
- glitter or glitter glue, Easter/Spring-themed stickers
- cotton pom-poms in white or pastel colors
- glue
- stapler
- tape
Directions:
1. Fold your construction paper in half and trace a bunny ear shape. This will be the inside of the ear. Folding the paper in half ensures that your pair of ears will match. We made about a dozen pairs because we had a large turnout for our play date.
2. Trace a larger bunny ear shape on your white poster board, leaving approximately a half-inch margin all around. Again, fold before cutting so your pair will match.
3. Paste the inner ear onto the ear itself and then decorate with glitter glue and add pom poms all around the white part of the ear. Obviously, some kids will do this precisely, others will just do it randomly, and others will be less interested in decorating. That will be what makes each little bunny unique! I wish we had more pictures of this part but…well…8 kids and 6 parents around my dining room table didn’t make for a lot of room to shoot photos!
4. Cut a long strip of poster board approximately 2 inches thick. Make sure it is long enough to wrap once around your child’s head.
5. Decorate the strip of poster board with markers, stickers, whatever you have handy.
6. Wrap the poster board strip around your child’s head and staple the ends of the poster board to fit.
7. Tape the ears to the inside of the headband and off you go–hopping down the bunny trail!
Easter Bunny Picture Books
Hopper’s Easter Surprise, by Kathrin Siegenthaler and Marcus Pfister: My kids are fans of adventurous and curious little Hopper. In this story, Hopper, an arctic hare, learns that not all rabbits are the same. He makes friends with a brown hare and together they try to be as brave and strong as the Easter bunny.
Milo the Really Big Bunny, by Stephen Krensky: In this silly story, Milo, a giant, purple, goofy, klutzy bunny, worries that he does not fit in. When he helps out the Easter bunny, he gains self-confidence and makes friends. Kids like the wacky illustrations and there is a reassuring message that we all have talents and a contribution to make.

These are so cute! The pom pome look just wonderful.
Hey Candace, I just wanted to say thank you for such a brilliant idea. I used it today for an Easter party and it was a huge hit with all the kids.
